Unfinished hobbies

Count your blessings cross stitchSecrets cross stitchI'd much rather do some cross stitchLillies in the water cross stitchThere are two things I hid from people when I was a young adult. The fact that I studied Library Science and the other is that I loved doing cross stitch. I always thought people would consider me a huge nerd. I mean, cross stitch isn’t the coolest of hobbies. It’s typically done by old grannies or librarians, right? Or so I thought.

But just the other day, KK and I were chatting about hobbies and that we don’t really have any. In between our daily stressful jobs, any spare time gets eaten up by running and training at the gym. I keep saying I need to make time to read, but then waste it all trawling my Facebook and Twitter timelines. I am ashamed to say that I have so many unfinished cross stitch kits packed away in the cupboard. Unpacking some of them rekindled that feeling of just how much I love cross stitching…

This was my very first kit which took me a day to complete. The bug had bitten. The cross stitch kit that started it all

I really hope to go back and finish all the unfinished ones some day and maybe even have them framed and hung up all over my house with pride because you know what? 1. I love cross stitch too! I also love to knit! and anyway nerds are cool! 🙂 its so exciting finding things in the cupboard that you forgot about, and picking up favourite hobbies again. I think I m ay just pop over to the craft store and get something to cross stitch! I find it so relaxing to do! 🙂

  2. Those are beautiful. I also enjoy cross-stitch although I don’t quite know what to do with the finished product other than give it to mum. I also love to knit. Nothing wrong ith being 32 and nerdy. Enjoy your cross stitch 🙂

  3. I am glad you are rediscovering a passion. It is quite difficult to do all the things we want to do, but we should never feel stressed about not concluding something like a hobby. It will eventually get done. Most hobbyists (of any discipline) have tons’ of incomplete, new and unopened projects and kits that they will “eventually” get to. While it isn’t good to have too many of these, some is not a bad thing.
Good luck, and please share the results.

      • You are hardly alone. In my hobby blog (not the main one on WordPress) I write about the dozens of hobbies I have started, paused, restarted, paused ….. you get the idea. Things change. Our perceptions and wants change…sometimes the TV schedule lets us down. Whatever. The whole point of having a hobby is that we can devote as little or as much time as we want.
